The "W" word

I thought "oh boy, oh boy, oh boy dad is taking me for a walk." I forgot the old adage "Be careful what you wish for".
My morning started as usual; mom waking up and waking me up for my morning pee. then she had her coffee and I layed back down for a nap. Grandma got up and we did the breakfast biskets and I went to wake dad up. Problem was his door was closed and I still am having problems with opening the door.
Dad got up, mom went somewhere and grandma vanished. Then dad made the big announcement! We AREgoing for a walk. YESSSS!!!!! I live for my walks. The smell mail and the other dogs, it is great.
Dad got ready and I got my leash. I should have suspected something when the truck was gone and he put me in the car. It isn't that I haven't rode in the car for my walks before but I KNOW when I am in the truck we are going on a walk.
Next dad turned the wrong way. That kind of upset the apple cart for me and I really had no idea of where we were going. I heard dad and grandma talking about something going on on the dike but I have no idea what they are talking about sa I speak dog. I do remember that there is a big metal thing on my walk trail but it is ok as it doesn't move when I bark at it and no one else seems too concerned.
Dad pulled up to another place to walk that I used to walk with him and mom when I was a pup. I remember it but it wasn't like the walks that I take on the other dike.
Dad had me on the leash for a few minutes and then he let me be dog.
I ran, smelled, peed, pooped and everything else I could do. I discovered that this walk was a "Lab" walk as there were Labradors everywhere and we all spoke the same language. It was neet.
We walked for a while then came up to a parking lot and dad turned us around. We walked back. I was starting to get a little tired but I kept up a fast pace. Then I hit the wall. I ran out of gas! Thankfully the car was only a half mile because if it were further dad would have to have carried me.
We got home and I have been napping since. I hope that tomorrows walk is a little shorter as I hate being this tired.
