I talked dad into taking me for a walk this morning. I THOUGHT it was a good idea at the time.
Dad got dressed, put on my collar and gave me my leash as usual. As I was bounding out to the truck I sort of noticed that it was raining and cold but, hey, a walk is a walk, right?
Wrong... Walks are supposed to be doggy fun and warm. this walk took to long to start as we drove to the gas station and dad filled the rig. Anxiety and excitement seemed to lock my brain, all I could think about is "WALK".
Finally dad stopped the car at the trail head and I got out. It was raining but after all I am a lab and getting wet is nothing to me. We got about a half of a mile from the car and the rain started to turn to snow, still no big deel, it is just really cold rain, right?
Then the wind started to pick up. Now I don't mind the rain or the snow but the cold wind, now that is a different story. I walked in front of dad until the wind started blowing my ears back, then I decided that walking behind dad and faking that I was just heeling would allow me to use dad as a windbreak. After all he IS walking me.
We came around a corner and dad was no longer my windbreak, the wind shifted and now it is blowing snow, cold rain and anything else in the air right into the side of my face. Still dad trugged on like this was my idea of fun. I think that the wind must have froze his common sense.
Finally, I had enough and decided that I will turn around and go back even if dad kept walking on. It was really cool, I turned around and started to walk back at a fast pace and I looked back and dad was following me.
"Whew" I thought because dad has the carkeys and I can't open the cardoors, I was really happy and relieved that dad got the message. We beatfeet back to the truck and warmth. I have never wanted to sit in a warm rig like I did today.
Interesting sidenote, dad took me to McDonalds and got french fries. MMMMMmmmm, I love those french fries!
